Creative Solution:
Nestled high above Lake Taupo – on the reserve at Kinloch Village, this batch successfully combines classical traditional architectural values with modern construction – to take full advantage of the sweeping views toward the lake and Mount Ruapehu in the background.
The Batch consists of three elements wrapped around a sheltered – partly covered - courtyard that allows for outdoor living most of the year.
The movable cedar shutters allow the clients to close up the house when they attend to their busy life in Auckland.
Materials:
Materials are kept low key to blend in with the surrounding village: black stained cedar, copper and dark metal roof.
Inside interiors are keeping with the exterior, using natural materials where at all possible.
